PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Wrapped in Wool captures a young domestic lamb sleeping peacefully within a deep bed of freshly shorn fleece. Curled tightly upon itself, the tiny animal rests its head against one foreleg, its pale ears extending softly to either side and its eyes completely closed in sleep. Fine, short wool covers its compact body, contrasting with the long curls and irregular locks of fleece gathered around it.
The interior of the old farm building is rendered in warm, earthy tones. Rough timber boards, a heavy wooden post and folded hessian sacks provide a rustic backdrop, while loose wool spreads across the floor in thick, naturally tangled masses. Small traces of vegetation and farm debris remain caught among the fibres, adding to the unprocessed character of the fleece.
Beyond the open doorway, a sunlit pastoral landscape dissolves into soft golden light, with a timber fence crossing the distant field. The low sunlight enters the building from one side, illuminating the lamb's pale coat and catching individual fibres throughout its woollen bed. Sheltered within the quiet interior, the sleeping youngster becomes the gentle centre of a scene shaped by warmth, texture and rural life.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Domestic Sheep (Ovis aries) is born into a surprisingly demanding transition. Inside the ewe, a developing lamb exists in a warm and stable environment; at birth, it suddenly encounters air, wind and potentially dramatic changes in temperature. Its small body has a relatively large surface area compared with its mass, meaning heat can be lost much more rapidly than in an adult sheep.
A newborn lamb's fleece provides an important first layer of insulation, but immediately after birth it is wet with fluids and cannot protect as effectively until it begins to dry. The ewe assists by vigorously licking her lamb, helping remove moisture while also stimulating movement and strengthening the bond between mother and young. Healthy lambs soon attempt to stand and seek the udder.
Their first milk, colostrum, is particularly important. Alongside antibodies that provide early immune protection, it supplies concentrated energy that helps the lamb produce body heat during its first vulnerable hours. Lambs can also generate heat through specialised brown adipose tissue, an energy-rich form of fat particularly important shortly after birth.
What appears to be a naturally cosy beginning is therefore part of a finely balanced survival system, fleece, maternal care, stored energy and early feeding working together as the lamb adjusts to life outside the ewe.

We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
