PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Monsoon Cub captures a young tiger cub resting beneath the broad shelter of an enormous tropical leaf as heavy rain falls through the surrounding forest. Lying down, the cub gazes upward towards the rainfall beyond its temporary refuge, appearing quietly absorbed by the movement above.
Rich orange fur and dark black stripes stand warmly against the saturated greens of the vegetation. Cream markings brighten the cheeks, muzzle, throat and chest, while moisture deepens the tones of the surrounding earth and foliage. Above the cub, the immense leaf curves naturally into a protective canopy, its glossy surface traced by prominent veins and covered with beads of rainwater. Droplets gather along its lower edge before falling into the wet forest below.
The background recedes into softened greens and vertical streaks of rainfall, allowing the sheltered cub to remain the clear focus. Dark tree bark, scattered plants and reflective patches of water complete the intimate setting, creating a richly textured portrait of a small animal enclosed within the humid stillness of a tropical downpour.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Tiger (Panthera tigris) has an unusually close relationship with water for a member of the cat family. Tigers are powerful swimmers and readily enter rivers, lakes, pools and flooded forest, sometimes travelling considerable distances through water as they move through their territories.
Their affinity for water is particularly valuable in hot and humid environments. Tigers may wade or lie partially submerged to cool themselves, while rivers and wetlands can also form important components of hunting grounds and travel routes. Strong limbs, broad paws and a muscular body make them highly capable swimmers, and individuals have been observed crossing substantial stretches of open water.
This adaptability has helped tigers occupy remarkably varied landscapes across Asia. Depending upon the population, their habitats include tropical and subtropical forests, mangrove swamps, grasslands and considerably colder northern woodlands. Rainfall and seasonal flooding can dramatically reshape some of these environments, yet water is not necessarily an obstacle to a tiger's movement.
For a developing cub, rain, streams and flooded ground form part of a landscape it must gradually learn to navigate, an environment in which water can provide a pathway as readily as a barrier.

Tiger (Panthera tigris)
Tigers occupy an extraordinary range of environments across Asia, including forests strongly shaped by seasonal monsoon rainfall. In these landscapes, the arrival of the rains transforms both vegetation and waterways, replenishing rivers, wetlands and temporary pools while stimulating new plant growth. These changes ripple through the food web, influencing the distribution and abundance of the herbivores upon which tigers ultimately depend. Tiger habitat therefore requires much more than forest cover: dependable water, productive vegetation and sufficient prey must function together across the landscape.
The importance of water becomes particularly apparent during the dry season. Research in Nepal's Bardia National Park found both tigers and numerous prey species using waterholes, demonstrating how these relatively small features can become shared centres of wildlife activity when natural water is scarce. Protecting rivers, wetlands, floodplains and seasonal water sources, together with the forests and grasslands surrounding them, helps maintain the ecological system supporting tigers throughout both wet and dry seasons.
