PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Forest Hollow captures two young tiger cubs resting together inside the broad, weathered cavity of an old forest tree. Curled closely against one another, the cubs lie low upon the decaying wood, their faces emerging from the shadowed interior while their striped bodies recede into the shelter behind them.
The enormous trunk forms a natural frame around the pair, its deeply fissured bark and rough inner surfaces contrasting with the softness of their juvenile coats. Black stripes sweep across warm orange fur, broken by pale markings around the eyes, cheeks and muzzle. Beyond the hollow, a small opening reveals luminous green vegetation, introducing a distant glimpse of the surrounding forest.
Ferns and broad leaves gather around the base of the trunk, reinforcing the enclosed character of the scene. Filtered daylight reaches into the cavity just far enough to illuminate the cubs' faces and forepaws, while the upper hollow remains in deep shadow. Their close contact and relaxed posture transform the immense fallen tree into a secluded resting place within the forest.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Tiger (Panthera tigris) begins life exceptionally vulnerable. Cubs are born blind and entirely dependent upon their mother, usually in a secluded den chosen for concealment and protection. Such sites can occur among dense vegetation, rocky crevices, caves, reed beds or other naturally sheltered places, with the precise setting varying considerably across the tiger's enormous historical range.
A litter commonly contains several cubs, and siblings spend their first months in close association. Play becomes increasingly important as they grow, helping develop coordination, balance and the physical skills later used in stalking and hunting. Rest is equally characteristic of their early lives, with cubs frequently sleeping or lying together while their mother is nearby or temporarily away hunting.
Unlike lions, tigers are predominantly solitary as adults. The companionship of littermates is therefore a temporary stage. Cubs remain with their mother through an extended period of learning before gradually becoming independent and dispersing to establish territories of their own. These early months of shared shelter, play and exploration represent one of the most socially intimate periods of a tiger's life.

Tiger (Panthera tigris)
Tiger cubs enter the world remarkably dependent upon their mother. A tigress typically gives birth to two to four cubs, choosing a secluded den or sheltered location where the newborns can remain concealed during their most vulnerable weeks. Cubs are born with their eyes closed and initially rely entirely upon their mother for warmth, protection and milk. During this early period she spends much of her time nursing and grooming them, while the shelter surrounding the litter provides an important refuge from weather, predators and disturbance.
Growing up with littermates adds another dimension to this protected beginning. Long before young tigers become solitary adults, siblings provide constant opportunities for physical contact, play and exploration as their coordination and confidence develop. Their mother remains the centre of this childhood for much longer: cubs normally stay with her until they have learned to hunt successfully, commonly around 18–24 months, before eventually becoming independent and dispersing. Protecting breeding females and the secure habitat in which they can successfully raise litters is therefore crucial to maintaining wild tiger populations.
