PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Farmer's Pocket captures a young domestic rabbit nestled inside the deep pocket of a weathered work apron hanging against the timber wall of a farm building. Almost completely enveloped by the heavy fabric, the little rabbit rests its forepaws upon the folded edge, its compact body tucked securely into the unexpected shelter.
Its soft coat is predominantly white, patterned with irregular black markings across the head, ears and body. One dark patch surrounds the eye, while the upright ears rise above the pocket and introduce a note of alertness to the otherwise restful pose. Fine whiskers extend from the pale muzzle, and the small front paws contrast against the rough, worn surface beneath them.
The aged apron dominates the composition with creases, scuffs and softened edges accumulated through use. Leather fittings, metal hooks and sturdy seams add further detail against the dark timber boards behind. At the edge of the scene, daisies and softly blurred garden flowers emerge into warm golden light. The contrast between coarse working materials and delicate fur transforms an ordinary farm object into a sheltered resting place, capturing a quiet moment of comfort within the rustic surroundings.

The Domestic Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus)
Despite centuries of domestication, domestic rabbits retain many behaviours inherited from their wild ancestor, the European Rabbit. Among the strongest is an instinctive attraction to sheltered, enclosed spaces. A narrow opening, covered retreat or darkened corner can provide something fundamentally familiar to an animal whose evolutionary history is closely associated with life underground.
European Rabbits are accomplished burrowers. In suitable soils they excavate interconnected systems of tunnels and chambers known as warrens, which can provide refuge from predators and extremes of weather as well as protected places for resting. Females also construct specialised nesting burrows or chambers in which their vulnerable young can remain concealed during the earliest stages of life.
This preference for cover remains readily apparent in domestic rabbits. Even when predators are absent, many seek boxes, tunnels and other enclosed retreats in which they can rest while remaining protected on several sides. Such behaviour reflects the rabbit's position as a prey species: concealment can be as important a defence as speed.
Young rabbits gradually venture farther from secure resting places as their confidence and independence develop. Yet access to shelter remains important throughout adulthood. What appears to us as an unusually small or curious hiding place may therefore represent something quite different to the rabbit — a protected space from which the surrounding world can be safely observed.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
