PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Snout to Snout captures four tiny piglets sleeping in a close-knit bundle upon the straw-covered floor of a quiet wooden barn. Curled tightly against one another, their small pink bodies overlap to form a soft circle of warmth, with one youngster resting its head gently across the others at the centre of the group.
Fine pale bristles cover their delicate skin, catching the low sunlight along rounded backs, folded legs and translucent ears. Their closed eyes, relaxed snouts and loosely tucked limbs convey complete stillness, while subtle differences in posture give each sleeping piglet its own presence within the huddle.
Around them, scattered straw forms a loosely gathered bed across worn timber floorboards. A deeper bank of hay rises towards the shadowed wall beyond, while a narrow opening in the barn admits a shaft of warm golden light. Suspended dust and tiny fragments of straw become visible as they drift through the beam, illuminating the otherwise subdued interior.
Protected within the dim barn and surrounded by the familiar bodies of their littermates, the four piglets turn an ordinary patch of straw into a shared place of warmth, comfort and sleep.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Domestic Pig (Sus scrofa domesticus) is born surprisingly vulnerable to changes in temperature. Newborn piglets possess relatively little body fat, have limited energy reserves and lose heat rapidly because their small bodies have a large surface area in relation to their mass. Maintaining warmth is therefore one of their most immediate challenges after birth.
One beautifully simple response is the piglet huddle. Young littermates instinctively gather together when resting, pressing their bodies into close contact and reducing the amount of surface exposed to cooler surrounding air. Huddling allows the warmth produced by several small bodies to be shared within the group and is especially important during the earliest days of life.
Their sleeping arrangement can even provide clues to how comfortable they are. Piglets that are sufficiently warm often rest more loosely or spread apart, while those experiencing cooler conditions tend to cluster increasingly tightly together. Farmers therefore observe piglet resting behaviour as one indicator of whether the environment is providing appropriate warmth.
Sleep itself occupies a substantial part of early life. Between bouts of nursing and increasing periods of exploration, young piglets spend long stretches resting beside their siblings. These quiet intervals conserve energy needed for rapid growth while maintaining the close social contact established within the litter from birth.
For the four piglets curled together here, companionship serves an immediate physical purpose. Long before play becomes one of their most conspicuous behaviours, their siblings are already providing something fundamental: warmth.

We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
