PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
From Fleece to Fold captures two young lambs resting together at a weathered timber gate, their heads nestled upon a softly woven woollen blanket. Side by side, they gaze quietly outward, their pale fleece catching the last warmth of the evening sun as it streams through the open barn behind them.
The blanket falls across the gate in generous folds, revealing a subtle herringbone weave in natural shades of taupe and cream. Its orderly textile pattern contrasts beautifully with the fine, softly curled fibres of the lambs' growing coats, creating a gentle visual connection between fleece and finished cloth.
Warm backlighting traces the edges of their ears and illuminates their translucent pink interiors, while individual fibres around their heads glow against the darker timber of the barn. Beyond the doorway, a softly blurred pastoral landscape stretches towards the horizon, where golden fields and distant fencing dissolve into evening light.
The simplicity of the composition keeps attention firmly on texture and companionship: soft fleece against woven wool, smooth young faces against rough timber, and two lambs settled so closely together that they seem entirely content to share both their resting place and the final warmth of the day.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Domestic Sheep (Ovis aries) has accompanied human communities for thousands of years, but the transformation of fleece into cloth represents a much later chapter in that relationship. As sheep were selectively bred for increasingly useful wool, people also developed specialised skills for turning thousands of loose fibres into strong, continuous textiles.
Once removed during shearing, a fleece must first be prepared. Different portions can be sorted according to quality before washing removes accumulated dirt and much of the natural grease. Carding then separates and organises the fibres into a form suitable for spinning, while finer preparations may be combed so that longer fibres lie more uniformly in the same direction.
Spinning introduces twist, binding individual fibres together to create yarn far stronger and longer than any single strand of wool. Weaving carries the transformation one stage further. Lengthwise warp threads are held under tension while weft threads pass across them, with different sequences producing different textile structures. Herringbone, recognisable by its repeating broken zigzag, is created through a variation of twill weaving.
The blanket beneath the lambs therefore represents far more than processed fleece. Between sheep and finished cloth lies an accumulation of agricultural knowledge, hand skills and textile technologies refined across generations, turning a renewable animal fibre into something made to shelter and warm us.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
