PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Between the Sheets captures a young foal standing amongst rows of freshly washed white linen as it billows gently across a sunlit paddock. Framed between drifting sheets, the chestnut youngster pauses in the grass, ears raised and dark eyes alert, its delicate face marked by a small flash of white across the forehead.
Around the foal, lengths of linen hang from simple clotheslines, their folds catching the breeze and creating a shifting passage of soft white fabric. Some sweep towards the grass while others glow almost translucently where the late-afternoon sunlight passes through them. Beneath, clover and fresh green pasture surround the foal's long, slender legs, while a timber fence and softly blurred trees place the scene within a quiet rural landscape. Warm light catches the edges of its fine juvenile coat, transforming an everyday washing line into an unexpected little adventure through light, linen and summer grass.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Domestic Horse (Equus caballus) begins life equipped for movement remarkably quickly. After a pregnancy lasting approximately eleven months, a healthy foal will usually make its first attempts to stand within an hour or two of birth and begin nursing soon afterwards. Within only a few hours, many can already walk, trot and follow their mothers, an extraordinary contrast to the prolonged helplessness experienced by the young of many other mammals.
A foal's unusually long legs are already close to their adult length at birth, giving the youngster its characteristic slightly disproportionate appearance. Coordination, however, must still be learned. During the following weeks, running, sudden turns, playful leaps and interactions with other horses help develop balance, strength and awareness of the body.
Foals also learn continuously from their mothers and herd companions. Through observation and social interaction, they become familiar with communication, boundaries and their surroundings. Over the first year, rapid physical growth gradually transforms the long-legged youngster into the athletic proportions for which the horse is renowned.

Our fine art and canvas prints are produced to order, allowing each piece to be carefully prepared and checked before leaving the studio. We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
