PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A Little Higher captures a young Brachiosaurus stretching towards a branch suspended above the forest floor. Its long neck rises almost vertically beside the deeply textured trunk of an ancient tree, while its forefeet rest against the bark as though the youngster is attempting to bring the tantalising foliage just within reach.
The small sauropod stands amid a richly layered woodland of ferns, horsetails and dense green vegetation. Behind it, a shallow stream winds quietly through the forest, reflecting fragments of filtered sunlight between stones and shaded growth. The subdued grey-brown skin of the animal contrasts gently with the greens surrounding it, while fine scales and folds give definition to its still-developing body.
Warm light enters through the canopy from above, illuminating the young animal's raised head and the branch towards which it reaches. The composition turns the enormous proportions associated with sauropods into something unexpectedly intimate: a youngster testing the limits of its growing body beneath a canopy it may one day comfortably overlook.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Brachiosaurus (Brachiosaurus altithorax) lived in western North America during the Late Jurassic Period, approximately 154–150 million years ago. Its fossils are known from the Morrison Formation, a vast sequence of sedimentary rocks preserving one of the best-known dinosaur communities of the Jurassic.
Brachiosaurus was a sauropod, but its proportions differed noticeably from those of animals such as Diplodocus and Brontosaurus. Its forelimbs were longer than its hind limbs, producing elevated shoulders and contributing to the high-reaching body plan for which the genus is famous. An adult may have exceeded 20 metres in length and weighed several tens of tonnes.
Yet every individual began at a fraction of that size. Sauropods hatched from eggs remarkably small in comparison with the adults they eventually became, meaning juveniles underwent extraordinary growth. Fossil bone preserves evidence of rapid development, while changing body proportions suggest that young sauropods would not necessarily have moved, fed or interacted with their surroundings in precisely the same way as adults.
Brachiosaurus was herbivorous, using relatively simple teeth to crop vegetation rather than grind it extensively in the mouth. Its elevated shoulders and long neck allowed mature animals to exploit vegetation at considerable heights, potentially reducing competition with herbivores feeding closer to the ground.
The Morrison landscape contained conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, ferns and horsetails rather than the flowering forests familiar today. Brachiosaurus shared this world with dinosaurs including Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Diplodocus and Brontosaurus.
For the youngster represented here, however, the famous height of its species still lies ahead. The branch above it transforms one of Brachiosaurus's defining adaptations into a moment of growth — a young sauropod reaching toward a part of its Jurassic world that, with time, would no longer be beyond its grasp.
