The Haflinger (Equus ferus caballus) among the many qualities that distinguish the Haflinger, few are more highly regarded than its calm disposition and close affinity with people. Although originally bred as a hardworking mountain horse, generations of careful selection also favoured intelligence, patience, and a willing temperament, producing a breed equally suited to family life as it was to demanding agricultural work.
These gentle characteristics have helped establish the Haflinger as one of the world's most versatile companion horses. Today they are widely used in pleasure riding, therapeutic riding programs, children's equestrian activities, and recreational driving, where their dependable nature allows them to build lasting partnerships with riders of all ages and experience.
