Bathed in the soft light of an early morning, this portrait follows a Rottweiler through the three defining stages of life. The Rottweiler traces its ancestry to the powerful drover dogs that travelled with the armies of the Roman Empire as they crossed Europe. These dependable working dogs were responsible for driving livestock that supplied the legions while also protecting valuable provisions along the journey. As Roman settlements became established in southern Germany, the descendants of these dogs found a lasting home in the town of Rottweil, where generations of selective breeding refined them into one of Europe's most accomplished working breeds.
For centuries, the Rottweiler became an indispensable partner in both agriculture and commerce. It drove cattle between farms and markets, guarded livestock and property, protected merchants travelling with valuable goods, and hauled heavily laden carts through the bustling streets of medieval towns. This close association with the livestock trade earned the breed the enduring title of "the Butcher's Dog of Rottweil." Renowned for exceptional strength, intelligence, and unwavering dependability, the Rottweiler developed a reputation for calm confidence rather than unnecessary aggression. Its natural willingness to work alongside people, combined with sound judgement and remarkable trainability, later enabled the breed to excel in roles ranging from military and police service to search and rescue, assistance work, and competitive obedience.

We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
