Silk on the Water celebrates the quiet harmony shared by a mature pair of Black Swans as they glide effortlessly through the golden stillness of an Australian wetland at dawn. The mirror-like surface reflects the warm colours of the waking sky, while soft morning mist drifts above the water and distant river gums dissolve into the gentle haze. Every ripple created by the swans spreads slowly across the tranquil wetland, reinforcing the calm rhythm of the scene.
Their elegant necks rise in graceful curves above richly textured plumage that appears almost velvety in the soft morning light. Subtle highlights reveal the layered feathers along their backs, while their vivid red bills provide striking accents against the deep charcoal tones of their bodies. Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)
The Black Swan is one of Australia's most recognisable waterbirds and is renowned for the strong, long-term partnerships formed between breeding pairs. Many pairs remain together for years, and often for life, strengthening their bond through coordinated displays, mutual preening, and shared territorial behaviour. Their movements across the water are frequently synchronised, reflecting a close partnership that extends well beyond the breeding season.
Although often regarded as permanent residents of lakes and estuaries, Black Swans are highly mobile birds that respond to changing rainfall and water levels throughout Australia. When inland wetlands fill after seasonal rains, large numbers may travel considerable distances to exploit newly available feeding and breeding habitat. Their ability to adapt to Australia's highly variable climate has made them one of the country's most successful and enduring wetland species.

We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
