PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Pint-Sized Pasture captures a Nigerian Dwarf doe standing with two young kids in a meadow bright with spring flowers. The mother occupies the centre of the composition, her upright posture providing a calm visual anchor between the smaller animals. One kid remains close beneath her shoulder, while the other turns towards her from the opposite side, creating a balanced family grouping. Their coats combine soft cream, caramel, chestnut, and white in differing patterns, linking the trio while preserving the individuality of each animal.
Warm morning light passes across their faces and backs, bringing a soft sheen to the short fur and illuminating the meadow around their legs. Raising young does is an important part of maintaining a productive Nigerian Dwarf dairy herd. Breeders must decide which kids may become future milkers by considering health, growth, structural soundness, family performance, and the quality of the dam’s udder and milk production. Selection begins gradually and cannot be based upon colour or small size alone.
During early development, kids require adequate milk, access to clean forage, parasite control, and protection from severe weather. Growth should be steady rather than forced, allowing bones, joints, and the digestive system to mature properly. Young females must reach suitable physical development before breeding, as mating too early can place unnecessary strain upon an immature animal.
Pedigree and production records help breeders evaluate traits that may not yet be visible in a young kid. These records can reveal patterns of fertility, milk richness, udder attachment, longevity, and ease of kidding within a family line. Thoughtful replacement selection ensures that each new generation strengthens the herd while preserving the compact efficiency that defines the Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat.
