Lop Eared Family captures a quiet moment of maternal care as a Holland Lop doe watches over her sleeping litter within a sheltered countryside nest. Resting against a bed of soft fur and dry straw, the warm caramel-coloured mother gently lowers her head towards four tiny cream-coloured kits, creating an intimate composition filled with reassurance and calm. Weathered timber fencing, fresh meadow grasses, and scattered moss frame the family naturally, while delicate strands of hay and loose nesting fur add rich texture throughout the foreground.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Holland Lop Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
The Holland Lop was developed in the Netherlands during the 1950s by Dutch breeder Adrian de Cock, who sought to create a compact rabbit with the distinctive lopped ears of larger breeds. By carefully combining the French Lop with smaller rabbit breeds, he established a rabbit that retained the characteristic ear carriage while achieving a manageable size and balanced proportions. The breed was officially recognised in Europe before gaining widespread popularity in North America, Australia, and many other countries.
Today, the Holland Lop is admired for its compact body, broad head, and naturally relaxed ear carriage, all of which are carefully defined within recognised breed standards. Its gentle temperament and manageable size have made it one of the world's most popular companion rabbit breeds, while responsible breeding programmes continue to preserve its health, conformation, and characteristic appearance. The breed remains a favourite among exhibitors and rabbit enthusiasts, valued equally for its calm disposition and distinctive charm.
