Living Marble is a graceful portrait celebrating the timeless elegance and noble heritage of the Lipizzaner. Standing peacefully within an alpine meadow as dawn light spreads across the surrounding mountains, the magnificent white horse appears almost sculpted from stone, its luminous coat glowing beneath the first warm rays of the morning sun. Wild grasses sway gently around ancient dry-stone walls while distant forests and rugged peaks fade into the soft haze of early day, creating a landscape of remarkable tranquillity. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Lipizzaner (Equus caballus) traces its origins to 1580, when the Habsburg monarchy established a royal stud farm at Lipica in present-day Slovenia. There, breeders combined carefully selected Spanish, Arabian, Barb, and Italian horses to produce an elegant yet powerful mount suited to the demands of imperial courts, military service, and ceremonial occasions. From these foundations emerged one of Europe's oldest and most carefully preserved horse breeds.
Although admired today for its striking white coat, most Lipizzaners are born dark and gradually lighten over several years, developing the luminous appearance for which the breed has become famous. This transformation has long contributed to the breed's almost sculptural presence and timeless elegance.
Living Marble celebrates these historic beginnings. Standing within the quiet surroundings of a traditional European estate, the horse reflects centuries of thoughtful breeding, noble heritage, and enduring refinement, embodying a living connection to one of Europe's most distinguished equestrian traditions.

Our fine art and canvas prints are produced to order, allowing each piece to be carefully prepared and checked before leaving the studio. We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
