PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Homestead Gathering brings together a varied herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats beneath the spreading canopy of a mature pasture tree. Some animals browse among the clover and grasses, while others stand quietly near the fence or pause beneath the deeper shade. Their loose arrangement fills the foreground and middle distance without appearing crowded, creating a natural portrait of daily herd life. Cream, caramel, chocolate, charcoal, silver, and patterned coats are distributed throughout the group, giving each goat a distinct presence while unifying the scene through repeated forms and markings.
Late-afternoon sunlight filters through the leaves overhead, laying broken patches of gold across backs, grass, and weathered timber. A moss-covered log anchors the foreground, surrounded by white clover, small wildflowers, and softly tangled pasture growth. The broad trunk and arching branches frame the composition, while fencing recedes towards open paddocks beyond. Quiet observation, shared shade, and unhurried browsing give the scene its gentle rhythm, preserving the comfortable companionship of a herd settled within the familiar boundaries of the homestead.

The Nigerian Dwarf goat (Capra hircus)
Goats are strongly social animals and are most secure when kept with familiar companions. Within a Nigerian Dwarf herd, individuals recognise one another and maintain relationships through vocalisations, scent, posture, grooming, and repeated daily contact. These interactions create a flexible social order that helps organise access to food, shelter, and preferred resting places.
Herd behaviour is influenced by age, temperament, family relationships, and previous experience. Some goats confidently approach new situations, while others take their cues from familiar animals. When one member begins moving towards feed or shelter, the rest may follow, allowing the group to respond quickly to changes in routine or environment.
Understanding these relationships is important in responsible husbandry. Sudden isolation can cause distress, while overcrowding or limited feeding space may increase competition. Providing companionship, adequate room, multiple feeding points, and places to withdraw supports calmer behaviour throughout the group. The sociable Nigerian Dwarf therefore flourishes not simply because it tolerates herd life, but because communication and companionship are central to its wellbeing.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
