The Appaloosa (Equus caballus) survival reflects the dedication of breeders and organisations committed to preserving both its distinctive characteristics and its remarkable cultural history. Following dramatic declines during the nineteenth century, renewed interest in the breed led to the establishment of the Appaloosa Horse Club in 1938. Since then, careful registration, pedigree recording, and responsible breeding have helped restore one of North America's most recognisable horse breeds.
Modern preservation extends beyond maintaining colourful coat patterns.
Breeders seek to protect the Appaloosa's athletic ability, sound conformation, temperament, and genetic diversity while acknowledging the profound contribution of the Nez Perce people, whose selective breeding established the foundation upon which the modern breed was built. Educational programmes and historical recognition continue to strengthen appreciation for this Indigenous equestrian heritage, ensuring that the Appaloosa is celebrated not only for its beauty but also for its enduring cultural significance. We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
