PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Capricorn presents the timeless figure of Pan, the rustic god of wild places whose courage and quick thinking would forever become entwined with the constellation of Capricorn. Resting upon a weathered granite outcrop overlooking the forested valleys of ancient Greece, Pan gazes thoughtfully across the landscape as the final light of sunset washes the mountains in warm gold, amber, and violet hues. Above him, Saturn rises beside the constellation of Capricorn, quietly illuminating the tranquil evening sky.
The composition portrays Pan as both guardian and wanderer. His powerful horned form combines the strength of man and mountain goat, while his weathered wooden staff, crowned with an ornate crimson crystal, rests firmly beside him as a symbol of wisdom, guidance, and resilience. Around the rocky hillside, rich purple pansies and delicate white blossoms soften the rugged terrain, their colours echoing the traditional palette associated with Capricorn. The Capricorn emblem is carved naturally into the stone beneath him, quietly anchoring the mythology within the landscape itself.
Golden sunset light illuminates the composition with rich browns, charcoal greys, warm amber highlights, and soft violet accents, creating an atmosphere of quiet reflection rather than conflict. Rather than depicting the moment of transformation, the artwork celebrates the enduring legacy of Pan, presenting him as a timeless guardian whose strength lies not only in survival, but in the wisdom gained through adversity.

CULTURAL CONTEXT AND SYMBOLOGY
Capricorn (Pan) is the tenth astrological sign of the zodiac, representing those born between December 22 and January 19.
Governed by Saturn and associated with the element of Earth, Capricorn has long symbolised discipline, endurance, responsibility, and the determination to overcome even the most difficult paths. While the Sea-Goat is the constellation's most recognisable symbol, ancient Greek mythology also closely associates Capricorn with Pan, the rustic god of shepherds, forests, mountains, and wild places.
According to Greek tradition, Pan was among the Olympian gods who fled when the monstrous Typhon launched his attack upon Mount Olympus. In his attempt to escape, Pan cast himself into the River Nile, transforming into a creature that was part goat and part fish. His warning allowed the gods precious time to flee, and in honour of both his quick thinking and remarkable survival, Zeus placed his transformed likeness among the stars as Capricorn.
This artwork presents Pan in his natural form rather than during his transformation. Seated peacefully among the mountains and forests he called home, he reflects the enduring spirit of Capricorn itself, patient, resilient, and deeply connected to the natural world. The setting celebrates the quiet strength that comes not through conquest, but through perseverance, wisdom, and an unbreakable bond with the wilderness.
