Aries celebrates the courage, purpose, and untamed strength embodied by the celestial ram through a powerful nocturnal scene inspired by the earliest legends of Greek mythology. Standing proudly upon the weathered steps of an ancient sanctuary, a magnificent Transcaspian Urial Ram gazes confidently toward the heavens beneath the glowing constellation of Aries. Above, a striking crimson moon illuminates the night sky, casting warm amber light across the surrounding ruins and filling the composition with a sense of quiet anticipation.
Ancient stone columns frame the ceremonial setting, where glowing braziers, flickering embers, and scattered pools of golden firelight bring warmth to the richly textured architecture. A crimson cloth draped across the altar introduces deep cherry-red accents that echo the fiery character traditionally associated with Aries, while delicate thistles and climbing honeysuckle soften the classical stonework with touches of violet, ivory, and fresh green.

Aries is the first sign of the astrological zodiac, marking the beginning of the astrological year and representing those born between March 21 and April 19.
Long before it became associated with astrology, however, Aries was recognised by ancient astronomers as the constellation of the ram, its origins preserved within one of Greek mythology's most enduring tales.
The constellation is traditionally linked to Chrysomallus, the magnificent golden ram sent by the messenger of the gods Hermes, to rescue the royal children Phrixus and Helle and deliver them from evil. Gifted with a miraculous golden fleece and the ability to fly, Chrysomallus carried the children across land and sea toward safety. Although Helle fell during the journey, Phrixus reached the distant kingdom of Colchis, where the ram was honoured before its legendary Golden Fleece became the prize sought by Jason and the Argonauts.
This artwork captures Chrysomallus not in flight, but in a moment of unwavering resolve before the journey begins. Standing before an ancient sanctuary beneath the constellation that would forever bear his likeness, the ram embodies courage, action, and the willingness to answer when others faltered. It is this enduring spirit of purpose and fearless determination that has come to define Aries across mythology, astronomy, and the traditions that followed.
