Winter Cob Stable celebrates the quieter side of life shared between the Welsh Cob and the people who have cared for the breed across generations. Within the shelter of a traditional timber-framed stable, several cobs rest peacefully in their stalls while winter settles across the countryside beyond the open doorway. Warm lantern light fills the wooden interior, illuminating weathered beams, fresh straw, and the attentive expressions of the horses as they quietly observe their surroundings. Beyond the stable entrance, a snow-covered landscape stretches into the distance, its cool blues and whites providing a striking contrast to the inviting warmth within. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Welsh Cob (Equus ferus caballus) throughout Welsh history, the stable was more than a shelter from winter weather; it formed the centre of daily care for horses whose wellbeing was essential to rural life. Welsh Cobs spent much of the year working alongside farming families, hauling carts, carrying riders, and contributing to the rhythm of agricultural communities. During periods of severe weather, warm stables provided protection from snow, driving rain, and bitter mountain winds while allowing horses to rest, recover, and receive attentive care.
These quiet surroundings also strengthened the bond between horse and caretaker.
