The Indian Runner Duck (Anas platyrhynchos domesticus) is one of the most distinctive and recognizable domestic duck breeds in the world. Despite the name, the breed originated throughout the East Indies, particularly on the Indonesian islands of Java, Bali, and Lombok, where it was selectively developed over centuries for mobility, endurance, and prolific egg production. Unlike most domestic ducks, Indian Runners possess an exceptionally upright carriage, often likened to a bowling pin. This unique posture allowed farmers to herd large flocks efficiently across long distances to forage through rice paddies, wetlands, and agricultural fields. Their constant movement made them highly effective natural pest controllers, consuming insects, snails, weed seeds, and other unwanted pests while fertilizing the ground as they traveled. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
