BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Irish Setter originated in Ireland during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, where it was developed as a highly accomplished sporting dog for locating game birds across the country's open moorlands, rolling farmland, and heather-covered hills. Bred for exceptional scenting ability, speed, and endurance, the breed worked closely with hunters by locating birds and instinctively "setting" to indicate their position before the approach of the gun. This cooperative working style made the Irish Setter one of the most admired bird dogs of its time.
Over generations, careful selection refined not only the breed's field performance but also its graceful outline and rich mahogany-red coat, creating a dog equally admired for its beauty and athleticism. Despite its elegant appearance, the Irish Setter has always remained fundamentally a working breed, capable of covering vast distances with tireless energy while maintaining close communication with its handler. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
