PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Coastal Mob reveals an unexpected side of the Eastern Grey Kangaroo, where a familiar bushland species becomes part of Australia's spectacular coastal landscape. Gathered along a quiet beach at sunrise, members of the mob browse among driftwood, native dune grasses and scattered seaweed while gentle waves roll onto the shore behind them. Some rest peacefully upon the soft sand, while others remain alert, watching over the group as the first light of day spreads across the coastline. The broad composition captures both the openness of the beach and the close social bonds shared within the mob, creating a scene that feels calm, balanced and distinctly Australian.
Soft pastel light reflects from the wet sand, blending warm golden tones with cool blues and muted greys across the shoreline. Weathered timber, textured dunes and coastal vegetation frame the animals naturally without overwhelming the composition, while the distant surf dissolves into a delicate morning haze. The contrast between the expansive ocean and the quiet confidence of the kangaroos creates a peaceful portrait of wildlife adapting effortlessly to one of Australia's most beautiful coastal environments.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Eastern Grey Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus)
Is one of Australia's most widespread and adaptable native mammals, occurring throughout eastern and south-eastern Australia in forests, grasslands, coastal reserves, and woodland edges. Living in loose social groups known as mobs, these kangaroos benefit from shared vigilance against predators while taking advantage of rich grazing areas. Their ability to thrive across diverse environments has made them one of Australia's most familiar wildlife species.
Although commonly associated with inland paddocks and open bushland, Eastern Grey Kangaroos also inhabit coastal landscapes where suitable food, shelter, and freshwater are available. Dunes, coastal heath, and adjacent woodlands provide ideal habitat, allowing mobs to graze among native grasses while remaining close to protective vegetation. These coastal populations demonstrate the remarkable ecological flexibility of the species.
The social nature of kangaroos plays an important role in their success. Individuals communicate through posture, scent, and subtle body movements, while the collective awareness of the mob helps detect danger. This combination of adaptability and cooperation has enabled Eastern Grey Kangaroos to flourish across a wide variety of Australian landscapes, from inland plains to windswept ocean shores.

CONSERVATION INFORMATION.

This design donates to animal and conservation efforts
The Eastern Grey Kangaroo is currently classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List and is not listed as threatened under Australia's national environmental legislation. Large, healthy populations remain widespread throughout eastern and south-eastern Australia, making it one of the country's most secure native marsupials.
Despite its abundance, local populations continue to face pressures from habitat fragmentation, expanding urban development, vehicle collisions, prolonged drought, and changing land-use practices. Coastal populations may also experience increasing disturbance from recreation and residential expansion, reducing the availability of suitable habitat.
Wildlife management focuses on maintaining sustainable populations while protecting the ecological health of native landscapes. Conservation programs emphasise habitat connectivity, careful monitoring, and responsible land management, ensuring Eastern Grey Kangaroos continue to thrive as one of Australia's most iconic and enduring native mammals.
