Morning Feed in the Barn captures the lively energy of a newly hatched brood greeting the first meal of the day within the welcoming shelter of a traditional timber barn. Bathed in warm sunrise light streaming through the open doorway, dozens of fluffy chicks gather among weathered wooden crates, nesting boxes, hessian sacks, and deep golden straw, creating a scene filled with movement, curiosity, and youthful excitement. Some eagerly peck at scattered grain across the barn floor, while others perch confidently upon overturned buckets, hay bales, and rustic timber ledges, each discovering its surroundings with growing confidence and independence.
The composition celebrates the everyday rhythms that define life on a working homestead. Domestic Chicks (Gallus gallus domesticus) the first weeks of a chick's life are characterised by extraordinary growth, with body weight increasing rapidly as feathers begin replacing soft down and muscles strengthen through constant activity. To support this remarkable development, young chicks require frequent access to balanced nutrition rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and clean water. Regular feeding during these early stages provides the energy needed for healthy skeletal growth, feather formation, and the development of a strong immune system.
Across generations of farming communities, the morning feed has been one of the most familiar and important daily routines within the poultry yard. As barn doors opened with the first light of day, chicks instinctively gathered to peck at scattered grain and starter feed while learning the rhythms of life alongside the rest of the flock. This artwork celebrates that timeless ritual, where simple acts of care nurture healthy growth and establish the foundations for birds that will one day become productive members of the farmyard.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
