PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Gentle Guidance captures a tender moment between a Ccara llama and its young cria beside a clear mountain stream flowing through the Andean highlands. The adult stands quietly nearby while the youngster lowers its head to investigate wildflowers growing along the water's edge, creating a scene filled with curiosity and reassurance. Soft evening light warms their coats with gentle shades of cream, gold, and cinnamon, while distant snow-capped mountains provide a magnificent natural backdrop.
The clear stream winds gracefully through the composition, surrounded by alpine grasses, flowering plants, and weathered rock outcrops that enrich the landscape with fine detail. Although the scenery is expansive, the close relationship between mother and offspring remains the emotional centre of the artwork. The peaceful atmosphere celebrates not only the beauty of the Andes but also the enduring bond through which each generation learns the rhythms of mountain life.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Ccara Llama (Lama glama)
Maternal care is central to the survival and development of a young llama. Soon after birth, the mother remains close while the cria stands, nurses, and begins recognising her through scent, voice, and visual familiarity. This bond provides both nourishment and security during the most vulnerable stage of life.
Llama mothers generally guide rather than constantly shelter their young. As the cria gains strength, it begins exploring nearby vegetation, water, and uneven ground while continuing to return to the mother for reassurance and feeding. Through this gradual independence, the youngster learns to respond to the movement of the herd without losing the stability of the maternal bond.
Herders monitor early nursing, growth, mobility, and the mother’s milk supply, particularly in the demanding conditions of the high Andes. Strong maternal ability helps crias develop the confidence and physical condition required for later life. The continuity of traditional Ccara herds has therefore depended as much upon attentive females and successful rearing as upon the strength and endurance of mature working animals.
