The Lace-Edged Legacy presents a sunlit portrait of one of the countryside's most admired heritage poultry breeds, set within a flourishing farmyard where generations of rural life linger in every weathered stone and timber beam. Across the straw-covered yard, a flock of Wyandotte chickens forages peacefully, while a magnificent Silver Laced and Golden Laced pair stand prominently in the foreground. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Wyandotte Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is one of America’s most celebrated heritage poultry breeds. Developed during the late nineteenth century and officially recognised in 1883, the breed was named in honour of the Wyandot people of North America. From the beginning, Wyandottes were bred as practical dual-purpose birds, valued for their ability to provide both meat and eggs while thriving in colder climates. The breed is particularly admired for its distinctive plumage. Varieties such as the Silver Laced and Golden Laced Wyandotte display a striking feather pattern in which each feather is outlined by a contrasting border, creating a decorative, mosaic-like effect across the body. Combined with their broad build, rose comb, and dense feathering, this appearance has made them favourites among poultry enthusiasts for generations. Beyond their visual appeal, Wyandottes are known for their calm temperament, hardiness, and dependable productivity. Excellent foragers and adaptable to a wide range of environments, they remain a popular choice for backyard flocks and small farms. Their combination of beauty, resilience, and utility has secured a lasting place in agricultural and poultry-keeping traditions.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
