The Australian Kelpie emerged during the nineteenth century in response to the unique demands of Australia's expanding pastoral industry. Derived primarily from British working collies brought by early settlers, the breed was carefully refined to manage vast flocks across immense stations where livestock often ranged over many kilometres of rugged, isolated country. In an environment defined by heat, distance, and unpredictable conditions, the Kelpie became an indispensable partner, valued for its remarkable endurance, intelligence, and unwavering work ethic.
Unlike many herding breeds developed for comparatively small farms, the Kelpie was expected to work with considerable independence, making rapid decisions while remaining responsive to its handler across open landscapes. Its agility, athleticism, and natural stock sense allowed it to move sheep and cattle efficiently through challenging terrain, often covering extraordinary distances during a single day's work. The breed also became renowned for its ability to "back" sheep by running across the tops of densely packed flocks when necessary, an adaptation that proved invaluable in Australia's large sheep yards. These qualities established the Kelpie as one of the world's finest stock-working dogs and an enduring symbol of the resilience and ingenuity that characterise Australian agriculture.

We use Australia Post for all domestic and international shipping, with delivery times varying according to destination, carrier demand and customs process where applicable. As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
