PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Luminous Stream celebrates the mesmerising synchrony of a school of Neon Tetras gliding through a flourishing freshwater aquascape. Suspended amongst interwoven driftwood, lush aquatic plants, and smooth river stones, the tiny fish move together as a brilliant ribbon of electric blue and vivid crimson. Their iridescent bodies catch the softly filtered light descending through the water, creating flashes of colour that ripple across the aquarium with every subtle change in direction. Though each fish is small, together they create a captivating display of movement, unity, and precision.
The carefully planted aquarium evokes the tranquil atmosphere of a tropical rainforest stream. Twisting branches weave naturally through broad-leaved vegetation and delicate floating plants, creating sheltered pathways that guide the eye through the composition. Warm golden light filters from above, illuminating the rich greens of the foliage while reflecting gently across the water's surface. BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon innesi)
The Neon Tetra is native to the blackwater streams and tributaries of the upper Amazon Basin, particularly within Peru, Colombia, and Brazil. These slow-moving waterways flow beneath dense rainforest canopies, where subdued light and tannin-stained water create an environment in which the species' brilliant iridescent blue stripe and vivid red colouring become highly visible to other members of the school.
First introduced to the aquarium hobby during the 1930s, the Neon Tetra rapidly became one of the world's most popular freshwater fish. Its peaceful temperament, manageable size, and dazzling colouration made it an ideal species for planted community aquariums, and it remains one of the most widely kept ornamental fish today.
Neon Tetras are naturally social fish that thrive in schools, where coordinated swimming provides protection from predators and strengthens group cohesion. Their remarkable synchronised movements, combined with their luminous colours, create one of the most captivating spectacles in freshwater aquariums, making the species a lasting favourite among aquarists for generations.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
