PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
First Days of Life portrays a Kiko doe resting with two newborn kids inside the warm shelter of a timber barn. The mother reclines upon a deep bed of golden straw, her broad body forming a protective curve around the young animals. One kid sleeps closely against her underside, almost enclosed by her forelegs and chest, while the second stands nearby with a tentative posture, its small face turned towards the security of the doe.
Sunlight enters through the open doorway behind them, casting a luminous path across the straw and warming the scene with shades of amber, honey, and soft gold. The doe’s deep brown coat absorbs the light in rich, earthy tones, while the kids’ paler cream and caramel markings appear delicate against the bedding. Weathered boards, timber beams, stacked hay, and a simple internal gate frame the quiet family group. Fine dust glows within the shafts of light, adding atmosphere without disturbing the stillness. Intimate and restrained, the composition preserves the fragile calm of life’s earliest hours within the shelter of the barn.

The Kiko goat (Capra hircus)
The first hours after birth are among the most important in a Kiko kid’s life. A healthy newborn must begin breathing normally, maintain body warmth, stand, and locate the udder. The doe commonly cleans the kid through vigorous licking, which stimulates circulation while helping establish recognition between mother and offspring.
Early access to colostrum is essential. This first milk supplies concentrated energy and antibodies that protect the kid while its own immune system develops. Farmers monitor newborns to ensure that each one nurses successfully, particularly after multiple births or difficult kidding. Cold, weakness, or poor maternal bonding can quickly reduce the chance of survival.
Shelter offers additional protection during wet, windy, or cold conditions, even in breeds selected for extensive management. Clean bedding, observation, and timely assistance do not diminish the Kiko’s hardiness; they support the biological processes upon which that hardiness depends. Successful neonatal care allows inherited vigour and maternal ability to take effect, giving each kid the strongest possible beginning before it joins the herd beyond the barn.

As we are based in Western Australia, delivery typically takes approximately 2–4 business days within Western Australia and 3–6 business days for interstate destinations within Australia following dispatch.
