Freestyle diamond painting is a creative form of painting where you can let your imagination take the lead. You have the freedom to mix and match different colors and drills, including specialty ones like crystals or metallics, without any boundaries. This technique can be applied to just about anything—clothing, shoes, trinkets, or whatever else you feel inspired to decorate, allowing you to create your own unique designs and patterns.

There are essentially two types of freestyle diamond painting:

Freeform without a pattern: This is often used for items like clothing, shoes, notebooks, and more. You create as you go, often with abstract designs or patterns resembling mandalas. There are no set rules, so your creativity is the only limit.

Freehand with a pattern: This is similar to cross-stitch and somewhat more challenging. You work from a blank grid whether this is on canvas, wooden board or another surface without any printed symbols or images. Instead, you follow a pattern, which could be drawn or digitally designed, and use a color chart or legend to guide you as you complete your project.
